Digital Microwave Gets Pact For KDD/Winstar Venture

ATLANTA -- Digital Microwave Corp. (DMIC) received a contract from KDD/Winstar for broadband fixed wireless access equipment.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

KDD Winstar is a venture owned by KDD Corp., Sumitomo Corp. of Japan and Winstar Communications Inc. (WCII).

In press releases Monday, Digital Microwave also said it installed an ultra high-speed wireless network for an undisclosed U.S. telecommunications service provider.

The new network will support broadband wireless services for initially up to 5,000 multi-channel, multi-point distribution system customers in the Colorado Springs, Colo, area.

In addition, Digital Microwave said its Altium broadband wireless access products now conform to European telecommunications standards for 155-Mbps wireless services in the high capacity 38-GHz radio frequency band.
