"Dr. McCully, who is now enjoying renewed respect with the emergence of homocysteine
as a cardiovascular risk factor, considers arteriosclerosis, a clogging of the arteries with fats
and other substances, to be a disease of "protein intoxication." While Americans are busy
focusing on fat avoidance to lower cholesterol, he believes they should be reducing their
consumption of animal protein to lower homocysteine.
