Another rebel propaganda lie? "Lundin has withdrawn from Sudan" - The Globe & Mail

Bona Malwal is a southerner who for many years has publicized the cause of the Sudan People's Liberation Army.
In Ottawa last week for a conference on Sudan, he explained to The Globe and Mail...
...
The Globe: You mentioned that the Swedish oil company Lundin AB has withdrawn from Sudan. Was that under pressure from the Swedish government?

Mr. Malwal: It's very difficult to say. The way each country operates is different. I think the Swedes would almost certainly have applied subtle pressure on Sudan not to put them in this kind of a situation. As a very high-profile human rights society that Sweden is, they would have done that. It is almost safe to assume that.

But there wasn't a high-profile debate of the type that your minister [Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy] invoked here in Canada. The problem is that Mr. Axworthy was very high profile about what he would do and how he would turn things around. When you preach things with that kind of high profile and they don't occur, they don't just disappear. There is a striking double standard here that is difficult to duck, you see.
