It looks like the TOU you were reading were for GNET's web site and not for SI. I suspect (but did not look close enough to be certain) that the "no stock thread" limitation on GNET's site is meant to protect SI as the place for stock threads.

Here is one in SI's TOU that i find interesting:

"On February 5, 2000, Go2Net entered into a Co-Branding and Marketing Agreement with National Discount Brokers Corporation ("NDB"). To assist NDB in compliance with securities regulations, the parties agreed that Go2Net shall use commercially reasonable efforts to remove any and all discussion threads which relate specifically to NDB or National Discount Brokers Group, Inc. by the fifteenth day of the month after the month in which the thread first appears."

It seems strange to me that it requires eliminating discussion about NDB in order for SI (GNET) to do business with NDB. What am I missing?
