The problem is not really the absolute heat dissipation, it is rather the power density and the geometrical limitation of the package. It is difficult to manage 50+ Watt coming from only a cm^2 area utilizing one 2.5 X 2.5 X 2.0 package costing a total of $13. The challenge for the thermal management industry is more in the package design which needs to be compact and inexpensive. Merced is pushing 200 Watts! Now that is a problem! Mani
