Scumbria,

The Tbird launch was Botched.

1. Only 1 premium LAUNCH partners shipping today: Gateway.
Compaq, IBM, HP to ship later!!!

2. From the sounds of it Dresden is doing well etc.

This means that it is likely to be a chipset or MB problem why no higher speed grades were launched.

Wherever the problem is, i would hardly call this an immaculate launch.

regards,

Kash

Scumbria,

<The T-Bird release was perfect. It was a large volume bringup of a new design from a new process from a new fab.>

I completely agree with your second statement but clearly the launch is nowhere near perfect. The news from the motherboard side implies that there are still significant problems with KT133. For example, check: sharkyextreme.com

The aging 750 chipset is saving the day.

AMD's processor execution turns out to be nearly perfect but the infrastructure is taking a little too long to mature. Even the much delayed 815 seems to be ahead. Sorry state of things to be sure.

This stuff is probably not going to have much short term impact because of the sold out conditions but clearly the business SKUs are slipping and that's not good for the long term.
