KEY EXCERPTS FROM GBT?S BUSINESS PLAN
GBT ?

Golden Bridge Technology
GBT has developed an exclusive and comprehensive portfolio of patents in 3G
3GPP has recently approved GBT?s Common Packet Channel (CPCH) and recommended it to the ITU for inclusion in the W-CDMA 3G standards. ITU has accepted the 3GPP recommendations
The success of CPCH was enabled by GBT?s 2-Stage Programmable Matched Filter ("2_PMF") and these combined technologies, when integrated into the WP-CDMA standard will result in a several month time lead when compared to the competing CDMAOne standard. (Another death blow to QCOM!)
The W-CDMA camp is even bigger than the GSM due to the addition of Japan?s suport and is estimated to have 80% of the markets
GBT believes that W-CDMA with its wide support from the GSM base will make up the majority of the 3G systems implemented in the future
In the U.S., AT&T is also seriously considering transitioning its current 2G TDMA technology, which is inadequate for mobile high data rate transmission to the 3G W-CDMA technology. GBT was invited to present its technology to select engineers from AT&T and Lucent for evaluation (So AT&T and Lucent are about to join the Nokia and IDCC team)
Of the two different 3G standards being advocated, GBT recognizes that Qualcomm has the essential 3G IPR for the CDMA2000 standard while InterDigital has such for the W-CDMA standard. (GBT clearly recognizes IDCC?s IPR in writing making it impossible for all GBT?s licensees to refute this!)
GBT in partnership with AT&T and the GSM based group are supporting the technically superior W-CDMA while Qualcomm and the CDMA camp is supproting CDMA2000. (Technically superior!!)
Packet Switch Advantages (over QCOM?s circuit switch):- Suitable for bursty transmission like emailing and the Internet; NO setup/termination time; LOW overhead cost ? users need pay only when data is being sent or received (that advantage alone should kill of QCOM?s system); Can allow more users to share the same channel
Advantages of W-CDMA over CDMA2000:-
W-CDMA uses Matched Filter (MF) signal acquisition, while CDMA2000 uses the older correlator-based technology?.. This leads to longer battery life/longer standby time, smaller battery/phone size and higher voice quality in cellular phones.
Unlike CDMA2000, W-CDMA is not tied to Circuit Switched Mode of Operations (See above advantages)?.. Due to this efficiency, W-CDMA based equipment with CPCH features will be more cost efficient and further drive down the cost of wireless service to the final consimers
W-CDMA offers a natural migration to the global GSM system.
NTTDoCoMo?s commitment to migrate to 3G W-CDMA gices it a 2-year lead over CDMA2000. This means there will be more suppliers of W-CDMA equipment suppliers (2 year lead ? in technology that is like a 100 year lead. Who wants to own QCOM with statistics like that?)
GBT?s packet protocol, known as CPCH is now a part of IMT2000
IN MY OPINION THE GOLDEN BRIDGE BUSINESS PLAN COULD NOT MAKE FOR MORE THRILLING READING ---- FOR INTERDIGITAL SHAREHOLDERS.
I am told that GBT'S CPCH works only with WCDMA, and not QCOM'S CDNA2000.
