``You don't have assets in the traditional sense,'' said Lawrence Hamermesh, a corporate law professor at Widener University Law School in Delaware. ``You get a hodgepodge of goodwill, intangible rights, intellectual property .... The only way to place a value on that is to ... estimate what it will bring in the future. In the dot-com world, that is crystal-balling that amounts to speculation of the highest order.''

ho ho ho....

Ice:

We sing from the same book of hymns with respect to the silly valuations being placed on the communication stocks. It has been one layer of infrastructure piled on top of another now for years. There are places where the railroad tracks have been undermined by all the fibre optic lines running alongside within the right-of-ways. (g)

Not even thinking about shorting/putting there yet, as there are much more delightful targets within the PC/semi territories which are much more progressed with respect to full saturation and price wars. Hopefully, they will still be priced to perfection when we are finished with the PC/semis.

Of course there will always be exceptions (like Iridium last year and globalstar this year) (g)

Best, Earlie
