By Peter Dizikes
ABCNEWS.com

NEW YORK, June 7 ? While most New York voters are still unfamiliar with Rep. Rick Lazio, a new poll released this morning finds him locked in a dead heat with first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Empire State?s hotly contested Senate race.
The Quinnipiac College survey shows Lazio, a Republican congressman from Long Island, tied with Mrs. Clinton at 44 percent. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent....

Forty-nine percent say Lazio has the right kind of experience to represent New York, as opposed to 47 percent for Mrs. Clinton. However, an additional 46 percent say the experience Mrs. Clinton has is not the right kind needed to represent the state in the Senate. Only 14 percent say Lazio does not have the right kind of experience.
