Good observation but you are wrong about WHICH HOUSES. It is the second and third tier Houses that are short, A.G. Edwards, J.C. Bradford etc. They carry very little influence in the over all scheme of things. They react the same way the retail investor does to fear. The large Houses are the ones that make the difference. They have too much inventory to destroy it. Why would you bring down the value of your Art inventory in your galleries if you had the power to see that their value could be aggrandized?
