CNBC soundbyte... the Street has discovered GOM dayrates ramping for offshore drillers...

Duhhh... are they on a 2 week time delay down there, or what ?

ESV & the dirty bird....

PS - on the post earlier about NBR's peak earnings capacity - there is numerous research/commentary out there on this - the King of Kings - is..... drumroll please:

FLC - could be a $72+ stock "if" we see a cycle expansion into 2001-2002 ...at peak earnings.

NBR WILL buy PTEN - Isenberg is on a buying spree & is and has been; on record for desiring to build via acquisition THE preminient - dominant land drilling monster... PTEN is food - period. The coming realization that the Nat Gas demand growth may just keep onshore drillers from experiencing another crash & burn cycle is a major factor.

Talbot's insider sales are nothing... he's 63; he's NOT overpaid - only $290K salary; he will not be the "remaining" CEO on any buyout; what would you do ? - stock at near alltime high; we've had 2 crash & burn cycles since 97. If Investment bankers & analysts were pushing you to sell your company; saying your stock would get pressured because of your lack of deep drilling rig exposure etc. - when would you sell - now (months ago) at another historic peak; or "after" your stock gets pressured as the analysts twist your arm; or after you enter "talks" on either buying, or getting bought - in which case you may not be able to sell for months & months.... Talbot sold - because of the unfolding chain of events... in my most - humble of opinions.

Good move & further evidence that he knows the reality of the situation... either PTEN buys more rigs (not a bad move), or they get taken out - and by NBR; a "merger" with UTI "could" be interesting - but, not likely...not likely they buy GW (too much debt for them) and TBDI may not be enough ? - logical conclusion ; they get eaten by NBR.

PacMan (isenberg) is hovering... bank on it.

..sit back and watch PTEN ramp - as "word" will soon leak out to the same pack that is a month late on receiving the "dayrate" news...PTEN is in play; and it's going, going, gone....time soon.

...PS - where's PTEN's biggest fan - Postal now ?
