VTSS's recent acquisitions of three CMOS-based network engine companies (XaQti, Orologic and SiTera) are crucial for its future, as Merrill commented at the Supercomm 2000, that the number of high-speed (OC-48 or better) networking processors and switches being offered in CMOS has exploded. The challenge that VTSS faces going forward is integrating the three technologies, and offering a unified development environment to customers. Successful execution on the CMOS front should allow VTSS to sustain its growth rate.
