Aspirin also inhibits thromboxane A2, which is part of the process that causes platelets to stick together, so aspirin can reduce strokes and damage from heart attacks. It's the most widely used antiplatelet drug because it's the cheapest. If the guy is a hematologist, you might want to take a look again.
