She was very fortunate in her family and friends. In another setting, she might have been hurt.

And it makes sense that she wouldn't miss something that she had never known--except possibly in a desire to "fit in," from which she was free, luckily.

I can imagine that the behaviour of humans in perpetual heat would seem extremely bizarre, and very probably unenviable, to one devoid of desire.
