Elmer,

RMBS brings 2 things to the table. High bandwidth and low pincount.

According to Bilow on the Rambus thread, DRDRAM uses more pins than SDRAM. This is because of additional wires required per data line, to enhance signal integrity.

Dear Elmer: I am a little confused when people say RMBS isnt available. I get the DELL catalog every month and their top of the line computers come with RMBS. Are you saying when one orders one, not available, or are you saying those people who build their own cant get RMBS. I have to believe RMBS is shipping lots of product based upon their financials and stock price movement but maybe it only goes to the big customers such as DELL? JDN

Hi Elmer, RE: "Timna was intended to use RMBS however the high cost and lack of availability forced Intel to add the broken MTH, thus somewhat defeating the lowcost intention. A major redesign would be needed to replace the RMBS memory controller with an SDRAM controller adding significant delay and added cost."

Is this a project delay or a product cancellation? I would assume it's a project delay, not a cancellation? Or is it a, wait-and-see.
