The United Provinces were in rebellion, but still contested until the middle of the century. Meanwhile, there was a shared cultural milieu, and a porous border. The rounded forehead was a fashion, the girls shaved their hairlines to make them look higher. I can visualize a famous painting, just of a woman's face and hands, she is wearing a sort of headband and praying, which has the same type of forehead.
