the discussion was not about products available in the public domain....more to the transfer of a much higher technology and its implementation


Sorry, "higher technology" is intellectual property, just like software, CDs, etc. And "if it can be copied it will" is not a good argument. Things are pirated in the US, but the scale is small, and copyright and patents are enforced.

My point was a response to a very strange statement about theft.
