I do seem to recall Gore heading an initiative about 7 years ago to streamline government, introduce efficiencies, yada yada yada.... and I seem to recall him taking credit for accomplishing all of that about 3 years ago. So it is kind of interesting that the job now needs to be started, and it's gonna cost us ....

And the potential "savings" of hundreds of millions of dollars is a laughably small percentage of the federal budget. If a real business undertook an e-strategy, they would be looking at savings in most cases in the double digits as a percentage of revenues and costs.

Not Government. Why? Well, follow the money ... into three pockets: (1) benefit recipients; (2) federal employees; and (3) federal contractors. Categories (1) and (2) are the most overwhelmingly Democratic voters there are. Category (3) spreads money to both parties to ensure continued survival.

The problem I have with both parties is that I cannot teach my children about politics and supposed small-d democratic values without simultaneously explaining what the word "cynicism" means.
