Global Marine extends contracts at higher rates
HOUSTON, June 7 (Reuters) - Offshore oil and gas drilling contractor Global Marine Inc.(NYSE:GLM - news) said on Wednesday it had agreed contract extensions with Coastal Corp.(NYSE:CGP - news) for three rigs at significantly higher daily rental rates (dayrates).

The extensions of 7 to 9 months are for ``jackup'' rigs operating in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and capable of drilling in water depths of 250 to 300 feet. The details are as follows:

VESSEL---------DAYRATE INCREASE----EXTENSION--------------------
Adriatic X $28,000 to $61,000 Nov 3 2000 to May 31 2001
Main Pass IV $18,500 to $49,000 Aug 31 2000 to May 31 2001
High Island 1 $20,000 to $40,000 Sep 17 2000 to May 31 2001

Global Marine spokesman Michael Dawson said the increased dayrates reflected the current tightness of the Gulf of Mexico market for premium jackup rigs capable of drilling in water depths of 250 feet or greater.

``These rigs are 100 percent utilized and there are no idle rigs to put into the market. Any additional rigs would have to be brought here from somewhere else in the world,'' he said

Dawson said current U.S. natural gas prices of over $4 per thousand cubic feet were spurring demand for rigs that could bring additional gas supplies to market quickly.

Global Marine has three more jackup rigs in the High Island class whose current contracts, at dayrates of around $30,000, would expire at the end of June. Dawson said the company expected a ``very meaningful increase'' in dayrates for those rigs.

Diana...Got quite the obsession going, don't you ?

Get over it.

Diana; who appointed you "Judge, or Jury" ?

Who the hell are you to question me, or anyone else on anything here ? No one is paying for anything here. We are all equals, we all share our thought & idea's - its that simple. Nothing more, nothing less. It's hardly as if you made any significant continual contribution here ?

Di; it's very apparent from you remarks - that you are simply jealous; get over it.

The only time you show up is to pile on; off of some ankle biters tirade with some whiney-assed sniveling MEXP, MEXP, MEXP.... and then to generate this continual little private mail campaign to swarm the SI Web Master with complaints to get me removed. You've got a near fatal attraction going here Di; why ?

Go start your own thread - if you don't like it here .

Di - if you don't like what I have to post - put me on ignore. If you don't like MEXP - don't buy it or short it. If you thought I was wrong on my leading this thread into E&P Stocks & pounding the table on overweighting them - don't buy them, or short them.

If you thought I was wrong in pounding the table to begin taking profits off the table & getting off margin back when we first broke thru OSX 115 - then post why, or ignore, or buy more on more margin... What's the Beef ?

You know Diana; not to be rude; especially to a woman - allthough I don't think it's much of a stretch to figure out you've got some Freudian "man-hating" issues to deal with; but you sicken me. People like you make my skin crawl, What a miserable, jealously laden, angst riddled life you lead. You resent anyone who takes a stand on anything. Anyone who is willing to go out front, to put themself on the line and God forbid if they hit one out of the park; you just hate it when the crowd cheers as one does the home run trot.

Yes; Di - I know your type. You're the one who hated both the cheerleaders and the captain of the football team in high school, hated the lead in the school play, the girl who got to sing the solo in the Choir, hated the jocks in College etc ; you allways got stuck in the background, allways in the cheapseats of life - allways rooting for Casey to strike out - because; how dare they go out onto that playing field, or that stage and so brazenly risk it all - when it is ohhh so much easier to hide on the sidelines and lead the boo-birds and play monday morning critic.

Di - you and I are opposites; I despise everything you represent and are; and I am sure you feel the same way about me... but; remember one thing - the Meek may inherit the earth; but they surely are destined to a miserable, meaningless life untill they do...

Di; you've got the stage now girl - it's all yours...

Adios threadsters - think big & move fast, watch the margin-machismo; keep some powder dry & the GOM Drillers are the Play here...

It's been fun - I'm outta here; simply not worth the time, or effort any longer.

Ciao~
