Joe, let me just say that despite all of the Merced delays, there is only one thing I can see in the horizon which has any hope of overshadowing Itanium in server and workstation performance. - And that is Foster.

Agreed on performance of Foster. In addition, Foster is compatible with all the software written for IA32, while Merced will crawl when running this software.

But a good thing about the delays is that maybe by the time Merced is released, Microsoft programming tools may support compilation targetted for IA64.
