It is his car.

A 1985 BMW 535i, I bought it new 15 years ago. Did not drive it much, it only has just over 53,000 miles on it.

The tires are expensive because that year Michelin modified the style, lending greater stability to radials. The idea never caught on, however. Seems since we are, in effect, still riding on rims designed at the turn of the century it's hard for people to accept a new type.

So the tires are off-size, and the rims are hard to find as well. The $300 was what I paid a half dozen years ago. Might be more by now.
