New technology wins and crusty old fools who can't move with the times go out of business.

$$billions on plastic film, loss of copyright control, distribution delays far exceeds the cost of conversion. Also, if the control best lies with the studios, that means the theatre owners are out of luck! The studios will just build their own theatres.

But it has been a year now since I watched the first Cinecomm film in Pacific Theatres in Los Angeles and no news, so it's going to be a slow haul. Maybe it will appear in a different form = small 'theatres' in places other than the movie complexes.
