I suspect that even in film it is a mixed bag. He may lose by refusing to put on airs, but people prefer to work with persons they can trust, and thus he might win in the long run. I cannot supply a reference to the quote, but I like it. Impudence does, indeed, directly mean "shamelessness", although it has come to include an sense of aggressive presumption........
