I know what you're saying, but I'd rather Intel take their big risks in areas they can control well, like undertaking new architectures in CPU chips they are designing themselves. Then, I'd want them to do a great job, while taking calculated risk to create something special, through design, processing, manufacturing, product rollout, etc. Again, these are all things they can control. OTOH, as big as Intel is, they cannot control the whims of 6 or 7 huge companies that make DRAM, most of which are in the Far East. If they would all rather build the current flavor of SDRAM, which is manufacturable with good yields, and has a big basket of customers that want to buy them, they can all tell Intel to go pound sand!
