My comment on the Yahoo estimate / lack of new all time highs is that it is hard for the analysts / institutions to believe that AMD can possibly grow in the future. They only believe the past growth (from the quarterly statements), and after each Q, they change the estimate to that quarter annualized with no growth.

Joe and thread,

First I did not think through the impact that this news would have...although I do not know how I would have brought this up any differently.

Secondly when I posted my concern, it was met by another prediction from niceguy....it freaks me out when I bring up a possible problem only to be blown off with an over the top prediction. And let me say, niceguy has every right to post what he wants....I just couldn't deal with it well when I had this concern.

Thirdly the comments since niceguy's (and including yours) are what I had hoped my post would engender...although I felt a little under duress.

Finally from my understanding, most EPS estimates are based on guidance provided by the company coupled with industry conditions. Consequently AMD's estimates for both 2000 and 2001 have been increasing over the past 90 days but starting 30 days ago, this year's total estimate has tracked higher. That's the first time since I have owned AMD.....from that scenario arises my concern.
