I'm a Quotes Plus EOD data user. Have been for a couple of years, as their stuff is clean (or they clean it up the next day) and the tech support is unreal. With their package comes "canned" scans. These have been written by regular users, and have been thoroughly tested by the rank and file. The volatility scan I run is one of these and it focuses on ATR. It looks back 89 days (this is variable) and seeks stocks with the widest ATR over that period. This scan comes with the advisor that the best moves come from stocks with the highest ATR... usually. I've used it for a long time and it really does produce symbols that m o v e! Ken
