David, we need only go back a few weeks to the most recent email virus flap to find published claims of resulting financial loss, losses that likely could have been avoided by the use of email software other than Outlook. Of course, if one's customers or suppliers were foolish or naive enough to put out the welcome mat for viruses by using Outlook, one may have incurred lost time or opportunity costs indirectly as a result.

I am amazed that many posters on this forum seem to believe that this is some sort of Sun vs. Mickeysoft debate. It has nothing to do with Sun in particular and everything to do with MS. Sun is just a proxy for any of a number of software vendors who endeavor to deliver industrial-strength system solutions, as opposed to fifty-knob fifty-light fifty-cent boom-box software.
