You cut off about the top two inches of the plant. Place in a pot filled with tiny gravel or with half sand/half humus enriched soil leaving about the last half inch of carrot sticking out. Remember the carrot has to have some greenery at the top....leave it on. Keep moderately wet and in in-direct sunlight.

This really is a beautiful little fern!
