Globe says Inco upgraded

Inco Ltd N
Shares issued 181,702,011 Jun 8 close $23.35
Fri 9 Jun 2000 In the News
The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, June 9, edition that Salomon
Smith Barney analyst, Leanne Baker, has upgraded Inco to a "buy" with a
high-risk tag, from "outperform" high risk. The Globe's Tip Sheet column
reports that Ms. Baker notes that workers at Inco's Ontario division
ratified a new three-year labour contract late last week, and she believes
the contract sets the stage for further cost-cutting and productivity
improvements at the flagship operation. She remains positive on the price
of nickel and expects a classic cycle peak in 2001. Her target price of $24
( U.S. ) for Inco shares remains unchanged, and reflects a potential gain of
about 50 per cent for investors who bought at yesterday's closing price of
$15.75 on the New York Stock Exchange. Inco closed at $23.35 ( Canadian ) on
the Toronto Stock Exchange yesterday.
