The real concern long term regarding population is population implosion. Much of Europe is already in a negative population phase. AIDS and starvation is predicted to take a huge toll on the African continent. It looks like the worlds population will level off at around 8 billion people in 2040, then start reversing itself. Japan, and much of Europe are going to be particularly effected. Do to China's one child policy, nearly 25 million Chinese men coming of age will be unable to find a wife. Sex selection since the one child laws went into effect has been gruesome. Stealing women from places like Vietnam and then forcing them to become wives, will become a huge problem as the century unfolds.
