Your analysis is personal, and has no statistics based on profit and loss or balance sheet performance of AMES. Checkout at AMES is quite fast and accurate. Shopping is not getting merchandise from employees. Walmart serve their customers the same as Kmart or Ames. You grab them and put them in a cart. Employees can not create the merchandise you want to buy. Nor can they help you, if you don't like anything.

Sorry, you like Walmart, but you think they are different from AMES. Only in the merchandise each carries. Someday you may be forced to go to AMES, when Walmart does not have the merchandise you like. Now you go to Walmart when AMES does not have the merchandise you like. This is America after all. You have the freedom to choose. But we need all the stores to give us choices, men do not live on bread alone.

Good luck.
