Tero, Q! [and other companies] should charge more for latecomers because those latecomers carry little risk. Early licensees [such as Nokia for IS-95 long, long, ago about 1991 or even 1990] should enjoy discounts because they help fund developments which might or might not be successful. Once technology is proven, it zooms up in value because new entrants carry no risk and can adopt it, knowing that they don't need blue-skies spread-sheet fantasy figures to arrive at a NPV. So of course Q! should be increasing the 3G IP charges. And they have been! Now, it seems they should go straight to 15% to match the legacy GSM new entrant price. It always amuses me how Nokia, the Koreans, Ericy and others whine about high IP charges by Q!, saying they should only charge an engineering fee to cover the development cost, then have the gall to charge a fortune for GSM IP. It's not "half-assed, melodramatic blackmail". Your intemperate reaction to a simple pricing statement is a little...um...unrestrained shall we say? Why such an outburst Tero? Do you get all upset when you see the price of petrol go up? It is normal for deadlines to arrive, prices to move in reaction to supply and demand, risk and profit. Dear me...have you been watching too many movies? Foot-stamping blustering is NOT the Finnish way surely. Tsk, tsk! I hope you can understand now why the 3G IP price should and has risen and will probably rise more. I also hope you'll reconsider me for an acting part - I did play King Richard in a pantomime "Babes in the Wood" in Antwerp some years ago, not to mention a juggler and umm, well, okay, a schoolgirl in a uniform in the drag ballet. Think Dustin Hoffman and Tootsie and don't draw any rash conclusions. Maurice PS: We did discuss why QUALCOMM Incorporated is written in capital letters. You'll see that everywhere. Do you want me to labour the point again? Uncle Frank, thanks so much for your generous GG offer. I suppose I should RTFM and I did admit that I was speaking from deep ignorance about the subject "Gorilla Game" and was indeed reacting in a simplistic way to the name and beastly metaphor.
