Re: First time I've been able to connect today...problem accessing SI all AM!

niceguy,

That means I'm not the only one. This is the worst performance I've ever seen on SI.

If the SI admins are reading, maybe it's time to junk those fragile Sun servers and install some stable and reliable IBM servers?

AMD's value over last 3 yrs
A factor that analysts and particularly short sellers have missed in the years 1997-2000 is the
wealth built into the company by heavy R+D spending .
Without that R+D spending , AMD would have been making nice profits during those years and
no doubt these short sighted analysts would have been praising AMD and raising its rating ,but
what of the future ?
AMD and particularly Jerry was not as myopic , they recognised the need to build into the
company a design team without equal in the CPU business in order to jump ahead of Intel .
Second they recognised that to be in a position where they
had adequate production facilities to compete in the next semi upswing they had to build those
facilities during the downswing then instead of doing what Intel and others are now doing i.e.
build during the boom times , they would have the benefit of having production when it was
needed .
The focused thinking that AMD has exhibited indicates management ability that is superior to
other semiconductor
compamies but instead of praise they received scorn and rejection by investors who can't
seem to analyse anything other than P/E ratio .
Those 2 factors still do not seem to be recognised by many
otherwise the shortsellers would be running for cover .
