re: >>>There would be a certain . . . . irony . . . . in my representing a group that is hostile to "greedy capitalists." But I'll definitely give it some thought. If you can find me some pro-capitalism greedy geezer type activists, that would probably suit me better.<g><<<

The successful supporting coalition on an issue like this has both the "red-pinko" faction and "retired Republicans" representation.

It's the irony that makes it work. It's the "What's wrong with this picture?" factor and the answer that makes politicians sh!t down both when they finally figure it out.

I put together two coalitions along the lines of the above on single issues and won both times. (They told me I'd never get the one Communist Alderman and the closet Chair of the Republican Party in a room together and on the same page on the same issue...They were wrong. Or the two Aldermen who had threatened each other with physical harm on the same side of the vote...Wrong about that one too.)

Politics makes strange bedfellows as they say...and you'd be surprised at the seemingly revolting and surprisingly successful menage a trois that result.

Of course we're talking legislative issues here not court cases, but you never know...

One woman, a British war bride, from the closet Republican ward flat out told me that the Anti Medical Waste Incinerator Coalition I had pieced together was "bloody revolting." She would simply not consort with Communists, parlor-pinkos, drunks, welfare mothers, etc...and the like.

I told her, "Luv, sometimes you just have to pull your Tory head out of your @ss, lie back and think of England or you'll have medical waste all over your neighborhood."

She got it immediately.

It's all in how you approach people.
