David,
I have to agree. The electoral college, seemingly, had the ability to ignore the outcome of the general vote, and decide on their own who the electee will be. Admittedly, that description does not go into enough detail of the workings of the electoral college, but I presume that most of those interested in politics already know that. It does not seem to be a valid way to decide the will of the people in this day and time.
