Benign inflation data boosts stocks

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- A report revealing that wholesale price
inflation remains under wraps sent equities higher Friday, with the bulk of
the gains concentrated in the technology arena.

gains in the financial, retail and drug sectors. However, retail shares
erased earlier gains and bank stocks also turned lower while brokerages
remained only marginally higher.
