Desert Encounter Across the sand I spied a naked beast, Who held a scarlet object in his hand, And gnawed at it voraciously, I asked If it were flavorful, and he replied, "Tis bitter, but its bitterness inflames, My hunger, and I want it all the more----" He lifted it, and I could plainly see It was his heart he ate so lustily.
