It warms my heart to see a "government is good for you" Democrat being transformed into a Libertarian. Welcome aboard.

I am a Democrat, but I think you would be hard pressed to find any posts of mine where I stated the sentiment "government is good for you".

My democratic affiliation mostly relates to environmental issues, which do frequently require governmental intervention.

I don't have anything fundamental against the Fed, except that they are trying to micro-manage the economy, without any understanding of why the economy behaves as it does. Many seem to believe that the economy is tough enough to weather this meddling, and that the Fed is just a nusiance, but I'm inclined to think it is more serious than that.

Somemone on the thread made a good analogy a few weeks back between Fed interest rate hikes to slow the economy down, and controlled burns by the National Park Service to reduce fire danger.
