Re <hard drives and ram-bs>
As I have noted before, the quoted disk performance
numbers of 113MB/s and 358MB/s both significantly
exceed both UDMA bus speed and the disk head rate.
This apparently means that the benchmark is
dealing primarily with so-called Disk File Cache
that resides in main memory. By changing the size
of the disk cache and/or cache read/write policy,
you can make up almost any number with that
"benchmark". It has nothing to do with RMAbus
or any mysterious "optimization". The last straw
of jim kelley has sunk.
