you're right, trading volume is not small...only compared to the blow-off stage early this year.

at the moment i'm nursing a negative long term (meaning 2-3 years) outlook, which could of course change, but based on the patterns and fundamentals as far as i can see right now that's what i'm thinking at the moment. if it turns out to be correct, trading volume will likely shrink dramatically.

now if the NAZ trades at 7K next year on 5bn shares a day, i'd be surprised, but i'm trying to keep an open mind about the possibility<g>.

agree 100% that it's no use to hold strong convictions...this is after all a trading market, not an investment market (although i do frequently find stocks that i think are worth buying for the longer term).
