One of the other judges on the Fairfax District Court bench, Judge O'Flaherty, rakes the leaves around the Judicial Center every fall, several times. He goes out onto the grounds wearing warm clothes, usually a plaid flannel jacket and layers of shirts (pants and shoes too of course) and a deerstalker cap, and gloves, and all by himself he rakes the entire grounds. If you didn't know him, you wouldn't know he was a judge. I've asked him why, and he says, "someone has to do it, and the County won't, so I will." I've thought about helping him, but I am afraid he would think I was sucking up.
