Those who do not believe in Eternal Life may have a different view

I think you bring up a very important point. The belief or non-belief in eternal life does give people different perspectives and it's important for those on both sides to recognize the implications.

The implication that most frustrates me is the view by those who would have the U.S. be a Christian nation is that somehow the non-Christians, and especially the non-religious, are second-class citizens. I would hope that they would be content to know that they get to go through the Pearly Gates and we don't. That should be a big enough penalty for our non-belief. While we're all still on this Earth, however, I want them to acknowledge that we can be just as good people, good citizens, good neighbors, good colleagues, and good friends as they can, which is what counts here in the USA on Earth, where our founders had the good sense to codify the separation of church and state. If they're right, they get the last laugh. Why isn't that enough?
