how many acres do you need?

I spent a few minutes the other day trying to figure out how much space per person is needed and quickly decided it was too much work. But what I had thought to do was to start with the approximately 2500 square feet I consume in my condo and office and add to it the territory required by one of each animal, my share of the animal population. That would be the territory required by one wolf and one monarch butterfly and one tree snail and one trout etc. etc, plus the space it takes to grow my food. That formula is very, very clumsy, but at least it would provide an order of magnitude.

For sure, the result would be measured in square miles, not square feet or acres.
