Dear Mr. J: I'm writin' just to let y'all know that I've been following your commentary on the DOJ-Microsoft case very closely on the Silicon Investor thread. I'm really much obliged when a concerned and knowledgeable citizen such as yourself clearly explains one of the few areas during my eight-year Presidency where this administration has gone wrong. Vice President Gore and myself have gone over your posts, at my insistence, in great detail during the last couple of our weekly heart-to-hearts. I'm right pleased to inform you that I have extracted an important promise from the Vice President that if elected in November, he will NOT, I repeat NOT, reappoint Janet Reno as AG in his administration! Now don't that jest get yer toads a-hoppin? Now as for the remedy itself, well I'm afraid there just ain't too much I can do about that at this juncture...wouldn't be prudent. After a brief appeals charade, in which as a former law perfessor I can assure you Microsoft will get whupped so bad that Mr. Gates will more'n likely never rock back'n forth all puppet-like again, we will be forced to go ahead and reorganize Microsoft up into about ten million itty bitty bits. But hey: one out of two ain't bad...I'm livin' proof! I'd like to express once again how much I admire the penetration of your analysis, and urge you to reconsider my standing request that you immediately pack up and apply your financial genius full time and in perpetuity to helping our good neighbor to the south, Cuba, emerge from its dark age of socialistic inefficiency and high brokerage commissions.
