Thanks for the explanation. It gives me context for your earlier comments.

I suggest, though, that what you're describing, the Ten Commandments absent the belief in a god, is not a religion but an moral system. I don't think that you can have a religion absent a deity, period. Some eastern religions without deities, like Taoism, are lumped under religions but I think that's just for convenience.
