Definitely sounds like the same problem...
Sometimes when you boot up the computer doesn't find the modem or the "port is open"...in addition to the other dialing problems.


Actually I thought it was the modem that couldn't find the port....it just says can't find the telephone line.

What MB do yo have?

SD-11 FIC.....Slot A

is your modem ISA or PCI?

Don't know.

Have you tried taking out other peripherals and installing the modem first?

I had the tech guy stop playing with it when I realized I wanted to go to a Socket A mobo.
