Michael, the automotive link you listed...

indicates that CompactFlash is being used like a flash disk which is embedded, but upgradable. The fact that designers are willing to include a removable flash card for fixed purposes tells me that SanDisk is entering into FLSH's territory. I would not doubt that SanDisk will start to manufacture TSOP's to be embedded into new applications. When you think that most embedded flash chips are in the 4Mbit to 16Mbit density range, a 512Mbit chip will allow a greater variety of on-board funtionality or storage capacity.

I liked your post because of the implications, not necessarily the automoive product line that is being introduced.
