Winbond Electronics Says Damage Minor From Sunday Taiwan Quake


Hsinchu, Taiwan, June 12 (Bloomberg) -- Winbond Electronics Corp., Taiwan's third largest computer chipmaker, said it suffered about NT$45 million ($1.5 million) in damages from Sunday's earthquake.

The quake damaged about 2 percent of the silicon wafers on the company's production lines and about 12 percent of quartz tubs at its No. 4 and No. 5 wafer plants, Winbond said in a statement to by the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

Winbond said its plants are insured against property damages and production disruptions.

Winbond shares today fell NT$1.5, or 1.5 percent, to NT$101.5.
