The handwriting is on the wall for this bubble, and there is no safer place to be than in the company of the yellow dog. When paper burns, you move into something that can't be destroyed, and that means physical gold, not paper. You'll notice that it was the real thing that was bought - the XAU barely kept up with physical gold.

GOLD is in talks with a number of parties regarding a merger for some time now and there is a lot of speculation surrounding it.
Other S. African golds are also strong today although still dirt cheap.
Remember a month or so ago GOLD spiked from 3.5 to 5 in one day for no apparent reason only to give up all its gains the next day. Hope this time is different.
