Tom hates Intel. A few years ago he thought they were out to get him- if I recall correctly. He moved his web site out of Germany to avoid be shut down. Nothing ever happened.

He appears to jury rig his benchmarks to prove whatever is on his proof agenda for the day. I have not seen any overclocking results on the 820 or 840 from him. He also frequently talks about how updating his drivers changes the benchmarks results. But you do not see him doing this with RDRAM platforms.

Anand is a better source than Tom. He does not hate Intel. He can be leaned on apparently.

Also, this may be another desperate attempt to smear RAMBUS before the news comes out that there will be no DDR based PC platforms this year.

The problem for the DDR proponents is that there are no chip sets ready to enable DDR platforms. The platforms need to be beta tested before volume production can begin.

No company in its right mind is going to issue non cancellable purchase orders for large quantities of DDR before they are certain that the DDR platform is stable and bug free. The Beta process is at least 3 months and can be a great deal longer if problems are encountered.

It also takes time to ramp into volume production. This leads to the highly probable conclusion that there will be no significant production of DDR desktop systems this year.

What is left is RDRAM desktop systems which are now in production and which will come into their full glory with Willamette.
